PITTSBURGH  — A PNC Bank branch was robbed in the North Oakland community and the robber hired a taxi as the getaway car, according to Pittsburgh police.
To the book of faces!

Channel 4 Action News' Keith Jones reported that the bank at 4612 Forbes Ave. was robbed around 3 p.m. Monday.

The robber arrived at the bank in a Yellow Cab and asked the driver to wait while he went inside and then give him a ride when he came out, police said.
While inside the bank, the man handed a note to a teller that said he had a gun and wanted money, police said. The teller handed him an undisclosed amount of money, and he left and got back into the cab, police said.

With the cabby unaware of what had just happened, a red dye pack stained some of the stolen money inside the taxi near the Carnegie Mellon University campus a few blocks away, police said.

Police said the robber told the cab driver to stop, and he got out with some of the money and boarded a Port Authority bus, which is where officers used a Taser on him and took him into custody.

The robbery suspect has not been identified yet.
