This week on Herbal Fridays, we're looking at Lavender. It's one of those plants which many of us like to grow in pots and gardens, but it can also be found growing wild, if you know where to look. It was used by the ancients in perfuming bathwater, and for strewing on the floors of temples and houses. It was cultivated in England for the first time around 1560, and is mentioned in the writings of William Shakespeare.

Magically speaking, lavender is often associated with love spells, as well as for workings to bring calmness and peace. If you've done any reading about aromatherapy, for instance, you've probably put lavender in your bathwater or under your pillow to help you sleep and bring calming dreams. Lavender is connected to the element of Air, and it works beautifully in smudging and cleansing rituals...
