White Sandalwood is the better known common name of the tree Santalum album. Other folk names include; Sandal, Santal, Yellow Sandalwood and White Saunders. Sandalwood grows mostly in India where it is regarded as a sacred tree, known as Chandana, and the Indian government controls the trade in Sandalwood.
